The Ulysses S. Grant Presidential Library

Our 18th President has a new home in the south.
Education
Ulysses S. Grant was more than just our 18th President. He was a dedicated family man, a determined and courageous general, and a revered statesman.

These stories are displayed at Mississippi State University, one of six universities to host a presidential library. Relative Scale created six interactive experiences and over twenty original videos for the Grant Library.

The Introductory Films interactive features four short films about Ulysses S. Grant, narrated by James Earl Jones, introducing Grant as a Family Man, General, President, and Statesman.

Grant has been mythologized throughout history, with labels such as drunk, butcher, unintelligent, corrupt, slave owner, and bad businessman. The Myth vs. Fact interactive explores these six myths, offering historical context through artifacts, quotes, interactive games, and video interviews with historians.

The Civil War and Presidency interactives cover seven chapters, from the Civil War to Grant’s Inauguration and the Whisky Ring Scandal. Guests explore these events through text, images, artifacts, and quotes, and can email images or sign up for updates.

The Cortege Book interactive recreates the Seven Mile Funeral Cortege of General Grant, allowing guests to view rare photographs, discover information through hot spots, and learn about Grant’s passing.

The Frank and Virginia Williams Collection of Lincolniana complements the Grant Library with Lincoln artifacts, family memorabilia, political pamphlets, and statues. The Learn More with Chief Justice Williams interactive explores twelve artifacts, with hot spots revealing stories, videos, and the significance of each piece.
