Chang & Eng Bunker

Two extraordinary lives.
Museum
The Siamese Twins Museum in Mount Airy, North Carolina tells the story of Chang and Eng Bunker, the original Siamese Twins, whose remarkable lives spanned continents, cultures, and more than six decades.

Relative Scale produced, designed, and developed two videos and eight interactive experiences for the museum, inviting guests to explore the twins’ travels, relationships, medical history, and enduring cultural legacy.

The Boathouse Film serves as a looping introduction to the lives of Chang and Eng, while the Heritage & Religion Films further explore those subjects with scholar and descendant Ryan Pino.

The Lives on Display interactives present two complementary timelines spanning 1811 to 1874, with guests exploring chapters that detail the twins’ travels and major life events. The Thai-U.S. Relations interactive highlights the diplomatic, economic, and social ties between the United States and Thailand.

Two book-style interactives, Eng’s Life and Chang’s Life, guide guests through each twin’s story through a page-flipping interface.

The Medical Interactive addresses frequently asked questions about the twins’ unique physical connection.

The Pop Culture Interactive organizes references to the twins across a variety of pop culture mediums.
