Ruth Wicker Tribute to the Women of Greensboro

Paying tribute to the women whose achievements will inspire future generations.
Education
Ruth Wicker loved serving her community, establishing a scholarship at UNC-Greensboro School of Nursing and funding the John F. Wicker Speaker Series.

She was an active member of numerous social and civic organizations, and when she passed away in 2008, her estate made a generous contribution towards an exhibit dedicated to women and inspiring others to serve.

Relative Scale helped conceptualize the gallery narrative and created a multi-touch table interactive that anchors the experience within this unique space, organized by eight character traits: she imagines, organizes, creates, perseveres, shares, empowers, leads, and she inspires.

The visual inspiration for the environment and media was a mosaic quilt, where individual squares can be unique, yet when stitched together, they reveal something whole.

Through collaboration with the project stakeholder team and broader community outreach, over 30 women and women-led organizations were selected for presentation in the interactive.

Guests can read biographies, listen to quotes, view photographs, watch videos, and discover how these women impacted their community, all driven by a Content Management System.
